Over the past two decades, the removal of children from indigenous families and cultures
in settler colonial contexts has increasingly become the subject of international historical research and debate.

Dutch colonial missionary projects and how these practices appear in Dutch children’s literature.
Margaret Jacobs’ keynote will give the international starting point with critical insights in the
role of white women in child removal in Australia. How gender functioned in the Dutch colonial
context is one of the issues to be discussed during the day.
